Product details
Description
RailDolly 2 is great solution for professionals who need a solid portable camera slider dolly for mid to large-size cameras.
The RailDolly 2 has a wide and low stance that provides great stability when using full-size camera packages.
The RailDolly 2 carriage doesn’t have any moving, rotating or articulating parts (besides the wheels) so everything feels solid, when you hold it and when you use it.
Because of the flat orientation of the wheels the RailDolly Pro carriage can be used directly on the ground or elsewhere as a high hat. This also comes in very handy when repositioning your rails, you can take the camera with carriage off the tracks and set it down while you move the rails.
The carriage can also be reconfigured as a skater-dolly so you have two great options for movement with one system.
RailDolly 2 Vs. Original. RailDolly 2 has a new plate design with recessed ball adapters which make it more convenient for attaching your tripod head. This provides a greater range of motion for “leveling” your head when on uneven surfaces and more stability because your tripod head sits further down into the rails lowering the center of gravity. The original design is ideal when using flat-mount tripod heads as no adapter is needed.
With the universal design of the carriage and end-brackets you can use this system with any pipe/tube with an OD between 1-2″. Most common is 1-1/4″ Schedule 80 aluminum pipe (speed-rail) which can be purchased at a metal supplier. Another great material to use which is more widely available is heavy-duty, chrome closet pole available at Home Depot, Lowe’s etc… The RailDolly Pro Speed Rail Slider Dolly can also be used on square or
rectangular rails. Square/rectangular rails are much more rigid at long lengths than tube/pipe so if you’re going to be putting a BIG camera rig in motion this is an ideal option.

How do I attach tripod legs?
Using tripod legs on at least one end of the rails is the best option for stability of the system.
Do you have a motorized option?
eMotimo makes a great motion control system that can be added to the RailDolly.
