PortaRail - Precision Portable Speed Rail

PortaRail is the original Portable Speed Rail system, first introduced in 2014. It stands out as the strongest and most precise collapsible rail on the market.

Designed for universal use, it fits any speed-rail type camera slider or dolly with an outside diameter (OD) of 1.65″ (41.9mm). This matches the OD of a standard 1-1/4″ speed rail. Made from high-grade 6061 aluminum and machined to a tolerance of .001″, the rail connects seamlessly. This design ensures smooth movement without noticeable bumps when rolling equipment over the sections.

The removable threaded connectors provide three key benefits:

1. First, you can replace damaged threads to extend the rail's lifespan.
2. Second, the tubes remain lightweight while maintaining strength.
3. Finally, you can easily attach other adapters or connections to the tubes.

You can choose from 40″ (1 meter) or 19″ (48.26 cm) portable speed rail sections. The 6061 aluminum offers excellent rigidity, reducing flex to less than 1/8″ under a 40-pound load at 80″ in length. Each piece goes through a detailed 6-step process to ensure straightness and precision, delivering smooth camera movement.

We also offer a custom Pelican case that holds six 40″ tubes, though this does increase the overall cost. Alternatively, hard rifle cases available online work well, as long as they can accommodate up to 42″ in length.
